ABOUT THE STUDIO

FORWARD FASHION

Studio Elsien Gringhuis is a high-end fashion label focused on the essence of clothing.
As Elsien says:
“All good things are simple, but there is nothing more difficult than making a good and simple design.”

Timeless, clean, chic and minimalistic, with innovative details. We create garments with a focus on quality in cut, fabric and finish.

We design an ongoing collection, presented in “Books”. New styles are added regularly, while individual styles remain available as long as the required fabrics are available.
We follow our own rhythm.

STUDIO | SHOP | SHOWROOM

Founded in 2008, Studio Elsien Gringhuis opened its STUDIO | SHOP | SHOWROOM in Arnhem’s Fashion Quarter (Modekwartier) in 2019.

Here, design, production and retail come together. Customers can view and order the collection in our shop, while the garments are made in our studio by our own production team.
It is much like an open kitchen: you can literally see where your garment is made.
Each garment is made to order and can be collected or shipped within five to fifteen workdays.

MATERIALS

We work with a diverse range of high-quality fabrics from selected suppliers. Where applicable, we use certified fabrics, such as GOTS-certified fabrics. All wool we use is mulesing-free. All other materials we use are vegan.

MADE TO ORDER

We produce garments only after they have been ordered. This means we do not produce garments in advance for stock. This approach allows us to make each garment specifically for the customer and to base production on actual demand.

PRODUCTION IN THE NETHERLANDS

All our garments are produced in the Netherlands, in our own studio and with skilled tailors.
Working locally allows us to maintain close contact with our production team and have direct insight into the making of each garment. Whenever possible, we source fabrics and other materials from suppliers close to our production location.

CRAFTMANSHIP

Our garments are made using specialist knowledge, precision and craftsmanship.
We work with skilled professionals and value the knowledge and experience involved in making a well-crafted garment. For us, craftsmanship is an essential part of the design process — from the first cut to the finished garment.

BEYOND THE GARMENT

Fabric remnants from our production are given a new purpose through art and education.
We use leftover fabrics to create artworks and offer workshops in tufting and Kinusaiga, exploring different ways of working creatively with textiles. These activities are part of our studio practice and reflect our interest in craftsmanship, materials and the creative possibilities of textiles.
